Birth: 1896 Goulburn, NSW, Australia Death: 25 September 1917 (age 21) Westhoek, Belgium, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: Bedford House Cemetery, Zillebeke, Belgium Father: John GENNER (abt 1849 - 1934) Mother: Elizabeth COOPER (7 October 1858 - 1941) Arthur gave his occupation as Shop Assistant when he enlisted 24 January 1916 at Casula, and his next of kin his father John Genner of William Street Bellingen NSW. His mother was born at Narellan and his father at Campbelltown, they were married at Cobbitty. Arthur was living at Bellingen at time of joining. His brother Leslie Genner who was born in Camden served in the 12th Australian Light Horse in the Middle East. Arther served in the 54th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney 30 September 1916 on the 'Aeneas' and arrived France via England December 1916. Private Arthur James Genner was killed in action at Westhoek Belgium 25 September 1917 age 21. |
